WELCOME TO THE SFFD FIRE RESERVE

We are a volunteer organization of San Franciscans dedicated to serving the people of the City and County of San Francisco. Established in 1941, our primary mission is to provide trained support for the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) at large-scale emergencies, including greater-alarm fires as well as natural and manmade disasters. Our secondary mission is to provide training and experience for San Franciscans interested in a career in the fire service.

San Francisco Fire Reservists represent the diversity of our community and come from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience. All reservists are sworn volunteers and are trained in basic first responder techniques including fire suppression, search and rescue, and BLS emergency medical skills. We invite you to explore this website to learn more about the SFFD Fire Reserve!

Willie Orey, Jr. (1960-2012)

It is with a heavy heart that we report the sudden and unexpected death of our friend and colleague, SFFD Fire Auxiliary Reserve Firefighter Willie Orey, Jr. on April 14th, 2012.

A native San Franciscan committed to serving the community, Willie was sworn in as a Reservist in 2002 and has been a dedicated member of the Fire Reserve ever since. He was a skilled Reserve Firefighter and experienced EMT who could always be relied on to respond to any situation with professionalism and dilligence. In addition to volunteering with the Reserves, he was a long-term employee with American Medical Response where he worked in a variety of capacities. He was a core member of the Reserves, and his presence, enthusiasm, and friendship will very much be missed.

The Fire Reserve wishes to express our deepest condolences to Willie's family and friends, including his girlfriend and mother of his children Marleana, his mother Minnie, brother Orlando, his daughter Marleana,  his son  Anton (currently serving with the US Army in Afghanistan), granddaughter Sunny, and grandson Marquez.
